"Mr Eken is a legal practitioner and arbitration consultant. He is admitted to practice law in California and Turkey; and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIARB). He holds two LLM degrees, one from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and another from Dokuz Eylül University, where he also obtained his bachelor’s degree in law with a high honour degree. He spent the 2019/20 academic year at Stanford University and two months in 2021 at Max Planck Institute in Luxembourg as a visiting scholar. He has work experience both in academia and legal practice.
Mr Eken is an expert in international arbitration, investment law and third-party funding. He advises on international arbitration cases and he is available for sitting as an arbitrator (sole or co-arbitrator). He is on the panel of arbitrators at the Thailand Arbitration Centre (THAC) and Shanghai International Arbitration Centre (SHIAC). He founded Eken and Partners Law Office in Istanbul and worked as an attorney/ partner. His main practice focused on business law, commercial law, and enforcement proceedings. Mr Eken is an active member of the State Bar of California, Istanbul Bar Association, and the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. He is also a member of the Asian Academy of International Law, LSE Alumni Association, LSE Arbitration Alumni Network, Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), Canadian Institute for International Law Expertise (CIFILE), Young ICCA, ICC-YAF, LCIA YIAG, YSIAC, HK45, and MENA Society of International Law. He has many publications and articles in progress on international arbitration, investment law, third-party funding, online dispute resolution and other related topics. He is also writing a doctoral thesis on third-party funding in investment arbitration. Mr Eken has been invited to speak at numerous international conferences, training of lawyers, and lectures in several jurisdictions including Turkey, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Macao, Australia, Singapore, Canada, Israel, India, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. He is also serving in the Executive Secretariat of the Asia Pacific Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Network."
